Valentine’s Day came with more releases than what I could handle. But as the saying goes, better late than never. Horid The Messiah is an artist that loves to talk about love and heartbreak with him being at his most comfortable in the subject matter. He opens the EP, TLB Diaries, with the song ‘Don’t Trip’. From the onset of the song you can understand why I say he is comfortable in the subject matter of love. He plays the role of hook man and rapper expertly, providing a welcomed level of contrast on the song. Following that, we seamlessly slide into ‘Dog In Me’. The brief song has a run time of 1 min 45 sec and acts as a sort of interlude of the 3-track EP. The chorusless single sees Horid The Messiah script a love triangle with two separate women and the ensuing drama. He continues the short track trend on the last song on the EP, ‘Still My Love’. After playing the role of toxic lover boy, we get an introspective single that sees him bring a level of honesty around some of the shame he is experiencing as a result of his toxic lover boy behaviour – what a story.
