Burna Boy’s sixth studio album ‘Love, Damini’ is here
Burna Boy’s sixth studio album kicks off with lines from multiple Grammy-winners Ladysmith Black Mambazo on the song ‘Glory’.
“Shout-out to the iconic group from South Africa, the legendary Ladysmith Black Mambazo, for bringing their energy to tracks 1 and 19 (the beginning and end),” says Burna Boy as quotes by Apple Music on the album’s liner notes on the streaming platform.
The 31-year-old Nigerian Afrobeats star further notes that the album is inspired by reflections on his life that come with every birthday after turning 30.
“I want you to listen to this and feel like it’s a rollercoaster ride. Catch a vibe, buss a whine, party like it’s your birthday, or even grab a tissue. I’ve got you, always,” says Burna Boy.
Love, Damini includes the hit single ‘Last Last’ which samples Toni Braxton’s 2000 hit record ‘He Wasn’t Man Enough’. Burna Boy recently shared that she receives 60% of the royalties for ‘Last Last’.
Love, Damini is star-studded as, alongside Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Burna worked with J Hus, Ed Sheeran, Victony, Popcaan, Khalid, J Balvin, Blxst and Kehlani.
Victony appears on ‘Different Size’ which makes use of amapiano’s log drum, a major move for the genre which is slowly but surely penetrating the fabric of popular music worldwide.
