Amid criticism of Jay-Z’s fashion label, Rocawear decided to shelve the “Occupy Wall Street” t-shirts which were set for availability on the label’s website. The t-shirts were taken off the catalogue after several hours on the site. This was due to pressure from several political groups calling for Jay-Z and Rocawear to take down the controversial gear. One of the leaders of the Occupy movement was quoted saying “Jay-Z, as talented as he is, has the political sensibility of a hood rat and is a scrotum. To attempt to profit off of the first important social moment of 50 years with an overpriced piece of cotton is an insult to the fight for economic civil rights known as #occupywallstreet.” Ouch…
