Kutlwano Matonkonyane, whose stage name is GREASYTHUMB hails from Itsoseng in the North West Province. GREASYTHUMB born 16th of October 1993 is based in Mafikeng where he is pursuing his budding Dj career which started in 2009, He is also a rapper and producer but more focused on being a Dj.
His love for music was mostly awakened by his brother, who taught him a lot about music, particularly hip-hop. The two brothers would listen to the likes of Notorious BIG, and later GREASYTHUMB fell in love with Motswako and started following the genre religiously hence his friends and fans call him Motswakolista meaning a mixture of everything. Versatility is what sets GREASYTHUMB apart as he plays not only Hip-Hop music, but EDM and kwaito as well.
GREASYTHUMB has been a tour DJ for the Motswako big wig and member of Morafe, Towdeemac since late 2014, after being recommended to him by an acquaintance and the two still work well together. Another name associated with GREASYTHUMB is Notshi whom GREASY has been a tour DJ for too, after Notshi approached him for his DJ services.
He has been locked up in studio cooking up some bangers with Apu Sebekedi, Streetz, Dj Lemonka, Tricky and Spvce-Pablo, just to name a few. GREASY with a steady-eyed focus and beats that suit any party there is no stopping him. GREASY firmly believes in being an active participant in the growth of the South African music industry as a whole. He foresees no limit to his success.
