Every week we’re affording you the opportunity to learn a little more about the Motswako Familia who will be headlining Maftown Heights in almost a week from now. This week we chat to one that may not be as well-known as his Maftwon compatrions. This is Lection – get familiar!
Get to know Lection – Who is Lection?
“Lection”, born Thebe Lekhonkhobe in North West Mahikeng, is a Motswako artist who doubles as a producer for his material with the assistance of Thasman Tsotetsi. Lection joined the Motswako rap culture in his early twenties and his musical journey does not only paint a picture of a committed and hard working individual but someone who believes in his talent and is going all out to make it work.
Lection’s skills have made him a force to be reckoned with in the Motswako/Hip Hop industry where he is a major item on the line up of almost every event organizer, club owner and manager. It is not easy to look away when Lection takes center stage; as you listen to the beat that defines this unique artist; the underlining strings that make him the perfect Motswako artist and notice the outstanding live performance that he puts out on stage.
What does Maftown Heights mean to you?
I look at it as a platform with an opportunity for both un-established and established artist(s) to showcase their talent and step up their game on the Maftown Heights stage.
I love how it brings together our Maftown fans to appreciate hip hop in their mother tongue and for the Maftown Motswako heavy weights to share one stage; celebrate and appreciate each other through music in Setswana.
What don’t people know about Lection?
Lection is one multi talented young man; not only is he a skillful Motswako rapper and producer, he is also a graphics designer and a choreographer
